A foundation established in memory of the Norwegian artist Lise Stigen, carrying forward her love of art and a long family tradition of care for the natural world.
Lise Stigen was a Norwegian painter who studied in several places, including Paris. She is best known for her abstract paintings, often inspired by nature, and for her pencil portrait drawings.
The foundation is taking shape around the people and practices Lise believed in. Our first programme is still being defined, and we are deliberately keeping it open as we listen and learn.
That might mean visual artists, musicians, young women at the start of a creative path, or makers working close to the natural world.
Our family has a long Norwegian history of nature conservation, that we have grown up inside. It shaped Lise, and it shapes the foundation.
Conservation informs how we think, who we work with, and what we hope to grow into in the years ahead.
We are speaking with prospective board members, founding donors, and cultural partners who share our values. Enquiries are welcome.
